- "Destiny is not something, you can just walk away from. All roads lead to the same destination, you can't out run it."
- ―Genesis to Angel
Genesis (born Jack) was a vampire and a member of the Scooby Gang and Angel Investigations.
Powers and Abilities
Genesis possessed the regular abilities of Vengeance Demons contained in a ring he wore on his right index finger. These powers included superhuman strength, wish granting and ability to shift between demonic and human appearance among others.
- Superhuman strength: Genesis possessed tremendous physical strength far beyond that of most vampires, demons and rivals that of slayers. He was able to inflict massive damage on his opponents through pure brute force and physical strength alone, usually by sending them flying through simple blows. When Spike fought him, he quickly proved to be too much for him to handle, causing Spike to take quite a beating.
- Superhuman durability: Genesis was able to withstand most amount of physical damage or harmful force of most kind, being unable to be harmed or inflicted pain.
- Immortality: Genesis lived for hundreds of years and remain ageless.
- Telekinesis: Genesis could move objects and most beings with a wave of his hand, he threw Spike against a wall. He could also inducing cuts and lacerations and applying invisible pressure to someone's neck in order to strangle them.
- Teleportation: Genesis could teleport in a whirl of energy at long distances to any place, any where, instantly. As a Lower Being, he could also appear after a bright light with several bolts of lightning that were capable of pushing back anyone close by.
- Energy projection: Genesis could shoot energy blasts, capable of hurting demons and kill a mortal he was seen with his hands glowing with energy behind them.
- Wish-granting: Genesis could grant the wishes of humans.
- Shapeshifting: Genesis could transform into a frightening demonic form from human form, in which his face appeared to be skinless with exposed veins.
- Voice Manipulation: Genesis had appeared to have altered his voice to make him sound more threatening.
- Empathy: Genesis had shown to possess some empathic abilities. He used to sought out the victims of criminals, feeling their pain as if it was his own. He could sense when people had vengeful feelings in their souls, and can identify whether creatures have souls or not by simple contact, or merely by observing them at close range; this is very useful when distinguishing normal people from soulless beings, like Vampires.
- Flight: Genesis could levitate off the ground and fly through the air.
- Omnilingualism: He could speak several languages, including English, Egypt, ancient Greek, Latin, Italian, Chinese, Spanish, French, Belarusian, German, Japanese and Enochian.
- Sorcery: Genesis had some experience in magic, able to perform spells, exorcisms, glamours, summonings, binding, containment, curses and hexes.
- Skilled combat: He is skilled in combat from his times as a vengeance demon allowed his to be an effective fighter.
After becoming a Lower Being, Genesis was a very powerful entity with a range of powers.
- Clairvoyant windows: Genesis had the ability to create "windows", screens that allowed him to view events in other locations in other dimensions.
- Resurrection: Genesis was able to bring back the lives of the people killed by a vengeance demon's wish granting, though only at the price of a Vengeance Demon's life. It is not made clear whether this ability could be used to resurrect someone who was not killed through a vengeance wish.
- Pyrokinesis: Genesis could kill most beings by merely looking at them, causing their body to catch on fire and disintegrate in seconds.
- Soul-Absorption: Genesis could absorb souls from other beings.
